Two things worth knowing

Nyx asks for administrator rights the moment it starts. Here is exactly why, and what it does with them.

Why it needs administrator

The settings that matter are machine-wide: the TCP/IP parameters under HKLM, your adapter's driver properties, the CPU scheduler quantum, power plan values. None of that is reachable from a normal user token. Nyx requests elevation in its manifest rather than starting unelevated and silently failing half its work.

Windows will warn you about an unsigned build

If you are self-hosting and built it yourself without a code-signing certificate, SmartScreen will show a warning. That is SmartScreen doing its job — verify the hash above against the file you downloaded and decide for yourself.

The command line, for when the app will not start

nyx.exe ships alongside the desktop app. It is the recovery path: restore works from a plain terminal with no network, no licence check and no running server — including from Safe Mode, where a desktop app does not load at all.
